RUMFORD, Maine — A male pedestrian suffered head injuries after being hit by a truck Sunday afternoon in Rumford.

According to Rumford police Cpl. Lawrence Winson, George Dubendris, 73, of Rumford was hit by a 2001 GMC Sonoma truck driven by Katrina Milliken, 36, also of Rumford, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday on Route 2, also known as Rumford Avenue.

Winson said that Milliken was driving in the rotary on Rumford Avenue and hit Dubendris as she exited. Winson said witnesses reported that Dubendris was crossing the road in a crosswalk when the crash occurred.

Winson said Dubendris suffered head injuries and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center by helicopter. He was in critical condition Sunday night, according to a nursing supervisor.

Winson said Sunday night that the crash remains under investigation and that the Rumford Police Department was assisted by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police, which helped reconstruct the crash.

No charges have been filed against Milliken, according to Winson. He added that speed, alcohol or drugs were not considered factors in the crash.
