Ballot set for Veazie elections

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

VEAZIE, Maine — A four-way race is shaping up for two upcoming openings on the Town Council to be filled in local elections on Tuesday, June 14.

No one, however, submitted nomination papers for an expiring seat on the Riverside RSU board, according to Town Manager Bill Reed.

Candidates for the two three-year council seats are incumbents Joseph Friedman and Rod Hathaway, who is chairman, and first-time candidates Scott Kigas and Tammy Olson.

Reed said that the Riverside RSU position now held by Gavin Batchelder likely will be filled by a write-in candidate.

Elections will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the municipal building. The annual town meeting will immediately follow at Veazie Community School, according to the annual meeting warrant.
