ORONO, Maine — A Maine Department of Transportation crew will begin work Monday on the Kelly Road Bridge, which carries traffic over Interstate 95, Maine DOT spokesman Mark Latti announced Friday.
Crews will be repainting the steel members of the bridge, he said. They will remove the existing paint and apply three layers of a protective urethane in order to extend the life of the bridge’s steel.
Motorists traveling the section of Kelly Road that crosses over the bridge will be limited to one lane of alternating traffic regulated by temporary signal lights. Motorists on I-95 also might be affected by temporary lane closures.
If the project proceeds as planned and there are no delays because of weather, construction should be complete by Aug. 22, Latti said.
