Aged manure a fertile ingredient for Winterport fundraiser

WINTERPORT, Maine — When something is a sellout fundraiser, you keep doing it.

So Argonne Post 138 of the American Legion in Winterport will reprise its annual sale of “aged, bagged manure” the next two weekends at the fire station downtown.

According to Jim Foley, the sale will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, May 7 and 14.

For $5, people can pick up a 50-pound bag of aged manure for their gardening needs.

The money from the manure fundraiser goes toward the post’s charitable projects, ranging from funding scholarships to sending high school students to Dirigo Boys State in June.
