CAMDEN, Maine — Hundreds of people will walk around town eating slice after slice of cake Saturday in the second annual Camden Cake Walk, a fundraiser for the Camden Rockport Historical Society.
Ten inns around downtown Camden — all within walking distance of each other — will donate cakes toward the fundraiser. For $20, anyone can walk from inn to inn and try a slice. The inns also will have rooms open so participants can meander about.
The inns are hoping to raise $4,000 for the historical society, which uses the money for its summer programs. This year, the historical society will offer history summer camps, living history weeks, bean-hole bean suppers, and demonstrations in blacksmithing, candle making, spinning and ice cream churning.
The cake walk will be held 1-4 p.m. Saturday, May 7. Tickets are $20, $10 children. Tickets are available at Once A Tree, Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville Chamber of Commerce, The Market Basket and at Dot’s. For more information, call 236-3500.
