BANGOR — Second-seeded Husson University scored three unanswered goals in the final 5:50 of the fourth quarter to power past No. 3 Maine Maritime Academy of Castine 10-7 in a men’s lacrosse game to advance to the North Atlantic Conference championship.
The Eagles will play top-seeded Castleton State College in Castleton, Vt., for the title Saturday. Castleton beat No. 4 Thomas College of Waterville 29-3 in the other semifinal match.
Nick Brown scored off a Matt Sweeney assist with 5:50 left in regulation to break the 7-7 tie for the Eagles. Alex Ryan followed with two insurance goals with 3:28 and 1:00 left. Ben Potter and Sweeney assisted.
Chris Pelletier led the Eagles with three goals. Ryan totaled two goals while Mitch Heaps, Ben Landry, Tony Diaz, Dillon Shaw and Brown also scored. Ben Potter had an assist while Sweeney totaled two assists.
Brian Corain scored two goals an assisted another for the Mariners. Christopher Keiley also scored twice. Andrew DiSalco had a goal and two assists and Wade Mondoux and Todd Murphy also scored. Nick Lund made one assist.
Husson’s John Hooper saved eight of 15 shots while Erik Milles turned away 19 of 29 shots.
