ELBERTON, Ga., and MONSON – Jacqueline Ann Doughty Cole, 76, of 136 Forest Ave., wife of David L. Cole, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Athens, Ga. Born Nov. 16, 1934, in Bangor, she was the daughter of the late George L. Doughty Sr. and Marion Brown Doughty.
She graduated in 1953 from Bangor High School, Bangor. She completed her nursing studies in Philadelphia. Prior to her retirement, she was unit manager of personal care at Artman Lutheran Home, Ambler, Pa., and then director of nurses at Front Royal Family Practice, Front Royal, Va. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Elberton, Ga. She served on the board of Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation, and was a member of the Iris Garden Club and Elberton Historical Preservation Commission.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, David L. Cole; sons, David L. Cole Jr. of Baltimore and John Doughty Cole of Charlotte, N.C.; daughter, Karen Elizabeth Cole Kallis of Atlanta; brothers, George L. Doughty Jr. of Bangor, James F. Doughty of Prospect Harbor and Bruce R. Doughty of Windham; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial services celebrating her life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Elberton, Ga., with the Rev. Phillip Harkey officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, to please make memorials in her honor to Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation, 4 Medical Drive, Elberton, GA 30635 or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 20 Forest Ave., Elberton, GA 30635.
