Colon Cancer Screening

Are you turning 50 in 2011?  If so, it’s time to schedule your visit with your physician and discuss your colorectal screening options. If you’re over 50 and it’s been awhile since your last screening, make that appointment to visit your physician as well.  Colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer killer among men and women.  Treatment for colorectal cancer is most effective when the cancer is found early.  If polyps are removed before they become cancerous, this is one cancer that can be prevented.

Early prevention is also important and will significantly improve your chances of avoiding colorectal cancer altogether:

The Maine Comprehensive Cancer Control Program is promoting Screen ME, a free screening program for Mainers who do not have health insurance or are underinsured.
