Maine poet laureate launches weekly website

AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine’s recently crowned fourth poet laureate, Wesley McNair, has announced that one of his first initiatives is a website that will offer a weekly poem by a poet with Maine connections.

“Take Heart: A Conversation in Poetry” will post or link to a different poem each week, and will include a brief introduction by McNair “about the poet’s background and connection to Maine, and the history, context, or themes of the poem,” according to a statement on the site.

The “Take Heart” site is hosted by the Maine State Library  in partnership with the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance and McNair.

Every Monday the complete Take Heart column will be posted to the MWPA website.
