BANGOR, Maine — Four teenage girls from the Bangor area walked into Walmart on Wednesday night and tried to leave without paying for more than $135 in items, and all four were arrested, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday.

“They were all seen concealing items,” the sergeant said. “The four went in there thinking they could steal and were caught on camera.”

Two of the girls were age 17 and from Hermon, one was a 15-year-old from Bangor, and details about the fourth were not available, Edwards said.

All were arrested at around 7:55 p.m. Wednesday and taken to the Bangor Police Department on Summer Street. They later were released to their parents, Edwards said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

BANGOR, Maine — A group of four people were seen by store employees at Walmart stealing DVDs late Wednesday and then taking off in a blue Ford Taurus, which later was found with the stolen items inside, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday.

Several police officers searched the area around the Bangor Mall at around 9:50 p.m., and Officer Kevin MacLaren found the Taurus parked across the street from the Longhorn Steakhouse. When MacLaren pulled up to the car, a male took off running and three people inside said they did not know who the man was, Edwards said.

After the stolen DVDs were found in the car, Ashley Gormely, 19, of Brewer was charged with theft. A 17-year-old male juvenile also was arrested on an outstanding warrant, the sergeant said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
