BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor man was arrested on a theft charge after he allegedly attempted to shoplift a pie server and a bottle of vodka shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday at Shaw’s on Main Street.

Anthony Barone, 20, was charged with theft because he reportedly took a pie server and a bottle of vodka into the men’s room with the intention of stealing them, Bangor police Sgt. Brad Johnston said Wednesday, citing a police report.

Johnston said the report indicated that Barone opened the bottle and consumed some of the vodka.

Barone was taken to Penobscot County Jail after his arrest. He since has been released on bail, a jail official said Wednesday night.
