ROCKPORT, Maine — Roy Hitchings, the CEO of Pen Bay Healthcare, will retire in the next year, the organization announced Thursday.
This will launch a national search for Hitchings’ replacement, which could take nine months or more, according to Pen Bay Healthcare’s press release.
“I love my job, Pen Bay’s mission and the wonderful people with whom I work. However, it’s time to move to the next phase of my life,” Hitchings said. “I will be 65 this December and want to spend more time with my wife, Debbi, and the rest of my family, travel, pursue other interests and, yes, maybe fish a bit more.”
Hitchings and his wife intend to remain in the midcoast area.
The Pen Bay Healthcare Board asked board secretary Greg Dufour, who is CEO of Camden National Bank, to chair the search committee.
