Millinocket men indicted in April 1 break-in and beating

BANGOR, Maine — Two Millinocket men accused earlier this month of breaking into an Elm Street residence in that town and beating a man bloody with a flashlight while stealing a gun and other items from him were indicted Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury.

Billy A. Brannen, 40, and Jeremy Sawyer, 32, were indicted for robbery, burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, aggravated criminal trespass and assault.

Both remained at the Penobscot County Jail on Wednesday unable to make bail.

The two allegedly broke into an Elm Street residence in Millinocket during the early morning hours of April 1. In addition to a handgun, the stolen items included cash and a laptop computer, according to Penobscot County District Attorney R. Christopher Almy.

“It is unclear at this time why the victim was targeted,” he said Wednesday.

The victim was not hospitalized, according to previously published reports.

Both men are scheduled to be arraigned May 9 at the Penobscot Judicial Center.

If convicted, they face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000 on the robbery and burglary charges.

Smith Bickford, 48, Jackson, four counts of theft by unauthorized taking.

Troy Bryant, 35, Hampden, two counts of burglary, four counts of theft by unauthorized taking, theft by deception.

Justin Burbee, 22, Newburgh, three counts of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

Tracey Cammack, 30, Bangor, two counts of theft by unauthorized taking.

Paul B. Cote, 52, Garland, criminal operating while under the influence of intoxicants.

Matthew W. Fernald, 34, Bangor, burglary, theft by unauthorized taking.

Victoria Gurney, 21, Norridgewock, eluding an officer, failure to stop for an officer, unauthorized use of property, criminal operating while under the influence of intoxicants, leaving the scene, driving to endanger.

Gordon Gustin, 52, possession of sexually explicit materials.

Brandon J. Harvey, 29, Glenburn, two counts of theft by deception.

Eugene L. Horn, 35, Bangor, theft by unauthorized taking.

Roger F. Lussier, 43, Bangor, unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs.

Bronson T. Merry, 19, Bangor, burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, criminal mischief.

Donald Miller, 27, Bangor, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Jennifer Ann Mott, 32, Old Town, two counts of theft by unauthorized taking.

Derek E. Nickerson, 21, Camden, driving to endanger, criminal operating under the influence.
