GUILFORD, Maine — Two teenage girls are following their commitment to help cancer patients by sponsoring a live concert from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford.

Last month, Samantha Jo Brawn, 14, and Elaine Riitano, 15, of Hoofs-N-Hearts raised $625 to purchase 25 $25 gift cards for the Oncology Department at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft to help cancer patients with transportation costs they incurred while traveling to and from the hospital for treatment.

That gift was merely the start of the pair’s giving, and the proceeds from the concert again will benefit cancer patients. The honor students have lined up several performers for Saturday night’s performance including Julie Harrington, Hill and Garrett Artman, Russ Sylvia, Steve Flynn, and the Thornely Bros.

There is a $2 admission charge. The event also will include a silent auction and drawings. Refreshments will be available.
