BANGOR, Maine — A Lincoln man was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence of alcohol about 9 a.m. Tuesday morning after reportedly making an illegal left turn from Exchange Street onto State Street, briefly traveling the wrong way on a part of State Street that is one-way, Bangor police Sgt. Larry Weber said Tuesday evening, citing a police report.

Richard Mullen, 56, was pulled over by Bangor police Officer Steve Jordan, who was driving behind Mullen’s green Chrysler sedan at the time, Weber said. The police report indicated that Mullen smelled strongly of liquor and that he fared poorly in field sobriety testing.

Mullen, who was taken to Penobscot County Jail after his arrest, was released on bail later in the day, Weber said. (Dawn Gagnon, BDN)
