AUGUSTA, Maine — Two Maine men are facing charges they threw an explosive device that injured two Augusta police officers who answered a domestic violence call and a woman in the apartment where the call originated.
Police say 21-year-old Paul Glidden and 45-year-old Darren Ellis, both of Augusta, were charged with a variety of felonies stemming from the Sunday morning incident.
Police say Glidden had been arguing with a woman in the apartment. He left and returned with Ellis, who threw a bottle at the woman.
The bottle exploded.
The Kennebec Journal says that after police arrived, two officers said their eyes and throats were burning from exposure to the fumes from the bottle.
Police didn’t say what the substance was that caused the problems.
None of the injuries were serious.
