GARLAND, Maine — A Garland woman who was caught with cocaine and marijuana early Sunday fought with the Maine State Police troopers who arrested her and ended up giving one a black eye, Trooper Chris Cookson said on Monday.

A relative of Rebecca Dancer, 42, called police late Saturday to ask that Dancer be given a warning to stay away from her home after “causing quite a scene,” the trooper said. When Cookson caught up with Dancer just after midnight on Dexter Road, he found her with drugs and a marijuana pipe and she was very uncooperative, he said.

“She elbowed a trooper in the face and it got him in the eye,” he said.

Trooper Brian Bean reportedly ended up with a black eye from the confrontation with Dancer.

She was charged with refusing to submit to arrest, assault, unlawful possession of cocaine, possession of a usable amount of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia. Dancer was taken to Penobscot County Jail, and was released Monday afternoon, a jail official said.
