BANGOR, Maine — Thomas School of Dance announces the production of an original ballet designed to appeal to all ages. “Peter Pan” will be performed at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Peakes Auditorium, Bangor High School.
Tickets are $12 adults and $5 for children and students and are available at Thomas School of Dance, 14 State St., 945-3457.
Choreographed and with music selected by Serena and Cassandra Lovett of the Thomas School of Dance faculty, the ballet tells the familiar story of the Darling children as they follow Peter Pan and Tinkerbell into Neverland. Wendy, Michael and John interact with the “Lost Boys” and help rescue Tiger Lily from Captain Hook and his band of pirates before they return to their own beds.
August Eaton, a sophomore at Hermon High School, will dance the role of Peter Pan. Eaton has been accepted into the summer dance program at the School of American Ballet in New York City for a second year and into the Julliard summer program.
Four seniors graduating from area schools also will dance lead roles: Sarah Bishop of Orono as Wendy, Rachel Caron of Brewer as Captain Hook, Holly Legere of Bangor as Smee and Alex Michaud of Veazie as Tiger Lily.
Several members of the dedicated cast of 35 young performers have been accepted to prestigious summer or fall programs including Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell, Carolina Ballet, the Rockette Experience, Boston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Walnut Hill, Tisch School of the Arts, Harid Conservatory and American Academy of Ballet.
