RANDOLPH, Mass. — A Massachusetts state trooper was injured Friday when his cruiser was struck from behind by a suspected drunken driver.

A police spokesman said the trooper was in his cruiser at about 2:30 a.m. Friday working a construction detail on Interstate 93 south in Randolph when he was struck by a Land Rover operated by  47-year-old Leslie Minasian of East Bridgewater.

Trooper Michael Isom was taken to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries. Minasian was treated at Norwood Hospital and released. She is scheduled to be arraigned in Quincy District  Court on charges including second offense operating under the influence.

The cruiser with its blue lights on was in the far left lane of the highway, which at the time was closed to traffic.

The crash remains under investigation.
