Criminal history puts theft suspect behind bars

BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor woman was arrested Sunday on a theft charge after allegedly removing a “pigtail” cable adapter from a package of cell phone accessories and concealing it on her person at the Family Dollar store at the intersection of State Street and Broadway.

Though the contents of the package were worth only $7.25, Clover Vega, 25, was charged with felony theft because of prior theft convictions, Bangor police Lt. Jeff Millard said Thursday.

Millard said Vega also was charged with bail violations because she was subject to two sets of bail conditions stemming from unrelated incidents at the time of her arrest on Sunday.

Vega’s criminal history, which dates to at least 2006, shows several convictions for theft, driving while under the influence of intoxicants and driving after suspension or revocations in Penobscot and Waldo counties, according to court listings from the Bangor Daily News archives.

Vega remained at Penobscot County Jail on Thursday evening, a jail official confirmed.
