BANGOR, Maine — The chief financial officer for Hollywood Slots Hotel and Raceway has accepted a similar position at a race track in Texas.
Bruce Badger, who has been in Bangor since 2005 and helped oversee the facility’s move from a temporary location to its permanent home across from Bass Park, officially stepped down last week.
He starts his new job as vice president of finance for Sam Houston Race Track in Houston later this month.
“It’s been fun here in Bangor,” Badger said. “This is a new business to Maine and there were only a few of us who came in from the outside. Just about everyone else was hired locally. It’s a real credit to Maine people and their work ethic, and the fact that you have an educated, skilled populous who could step in and create the first-class establishment we have at Hollywood Slots Hotel & Raceway.”
Badger graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with an accounting degree in 1972 and, in addition to Bangor, has worked in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, the Caribbean, Mississippi, Moscow and Louisiana.
