Deadline set for Veazie nomination papers

VEAZIE, Maine — Residents who are interested in seeking a seat on the town council or RSU 26 board of directors have until May 2 to submit their nomination petitions.

In this year’s local elections, voters will fill the expiring council posts currently held by Rod Hathaway and Joseph Friedman as well as the RSU board seat now held by Gavin Batchelder, Town Clerk Karen Humphrey said Tuesday.

So far, both Town Council incumbents have taken out nomination papers as has resident Scott Kigas, Humphey said. She said no one has taken papers out for the school board position.

Elections in Veazie will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the town office. The annual town meeting will begin immediately after the polls close.
