WINTERPORT — VSA Maine has announced the first showing of “A Matter of Perception 2010,” a juried exhibition showcasing the work and creativity of Maine artists with disabilities. The exhibit, on display through May 24 at the Atrium Art Gallery, 51 Westminster St., Lewiston, and will include work of local artists Jill Raczek of Bangor and Lauren White of Winterport.

“A Matter of Perception 2010” demonstrates that physical, cognitive or other disabilities do not limit talent or creativity. Kippy Rudy, executive director of VSA Maine, said of the 37 works in the exhibit: “The artists represent the spectrum of what it means to have a disability. They come from every corner of the state and from a range of artistic backgrounds, as represented by the breadth of work.”

Atrium Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.Friday, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. For information, call curator Robyn Holman at 753-6554, or visit  www.usm.maine.edu/lac/art.
