ROCKPORT — The photographic work of recent Maine Media College MFA graduate Kim DePaul will be celebrated with an exhibition and artist’s reception 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Maine Media Gallery, Shepherd Building, 18 Central St.

In her work of creating collage and assemblage incorporation, DePaul explores a long-kept family secret in her thesis project, “Between the Lines.”

“My process begins with a collection of elements: memories, imagery, writing, objects. I see the layering of paper and photographs as being similar to the way our mind organizes memory at different depths, over one another, constantly shifting. It is in this layering and relayering, the combining and recombining, the telling and retelling that I finally understand that I am no longer telling my family’s stories that were hidden away eighty years ago, I am telling my story.”

“Between the Lines” will be on display through May 1. The exhibition is free and open to the public. For information, visit www.mainemedia.edu, 236-8581, or email info@mainemedia.edu.
