AUGUSTA, Maine — It’ll be a quiet week in the Maine State House.
The House, Senate and all committees are off for Patriot’s Day on Monday, a shutdown day Tuesday, and school vacation the rest of the week.
When lawmakers return April 25, the Health and Human Services Committee will take up a pair of bills requiring drug testing for people receiving Medicaid.
One would require the Department of Health and Human Services to develop a program that requires Medicaid recipients with prescriptions for scheduled drugs to be tested periodically to ensure they are taking the prescribed scheduled drugs.
The other bill says that anyone who tests positive for use of illegal drugs may not receive benefits under the Medicaid program until that person tests negative. MaineCare is the state’s Medicaid program.
