WATERVILLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle baseball team scored eight runs in the final two innings to grab a 12-6 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in Friday’s nightcap.
The Beavers won the first game 6-2.
In the first game, Josh Garneau had three singles and two RBIs to power the Beavers. Russ Schmelzer and Ian McAlister both had two singles and two runs scored while Matt Levine chipped in a single and two RBIs. McAlister allowed one earned run, three hits and no walks with five strikeouts in seven innings.
Shane Smith drove in two runs and singled for the Owls. Stephen Thorne singled and scored.
In the second game, Carlos Villoria hit a double, two singles and drove in two runs for UMPI. Thorne had a single and two RBIs. Matt Nadeau had two singles, Ted Walker doubled with an RBI and Jake Fillebrown scored twice.
Schmelzer had three singles and two runs for UM-Farmington. Levine hit three singles, Ed Flaherty singled with two RBIs and Zach Keene doubled with an RBI.

At Brunswick, Bowdoin College’s Brendan Garner singled home Jordan Edgett to tie it at 3-3 in the eighth inning and later scored the winning run on a throwing error as the Polar Bears topped Trinity College of Connecticut.
Edgett doubled and singled for Bowdoin and Adam Marquit doubled with an RBI. Christian Martin allowed just two runs through seven innings and struck out eight, but didn’t earn a decision.
Kevin Mortimer hit a solo homer to pace Trinity. Stephen Rogers singled twice and scored.

At Gorham, Endicott College of Beverly, Mass., scored four runs in the top of the ninth and held off the University of Southern Maine.
Eric Lemke had a double, two singles and five RBIs to lead Endicott. Jake Northrup tripled, doubled and singled with two RBIs and Robbie Goldstick had two singles and three RBIs.
Mike Eaton homered with three singles and drove in six runs to power the Huskies. Jordan Berthiaume had a home run, two singles and two RBIs, Roberto Valenti hit three singles and knocked in two runs and Forrest Chadwick hit a solo home run.

At Brunswick, Gen Barlow hit a three-run home run in the first inning and scored two runs in leading Bowdoin College past Tufts University.
Molly Neator hit two singles and drove in a run for the Polar Bears and Caroline Dewar added two singles and a run scored.
Jo Clair homered with two RBIs to pace Tufts. Sara Hedtler hit two singles.

Barbara Santos hit two singles to lead Colby.
