NEWPORT – Milton M. Brockway, 69, died April 13, 2011, at his residence. He was born June 13, 1941, in Corinth, son of Dana and Vivian (Leclair) Brockway.
He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War and had been employed as a freight truck driver for 41 years, logging more than 3 million miles. Milton was very proud of his 26 years of sobriety and his many friends at AA. He loved riding his motorcycles with his boys; enjoyed NASCAR and his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon; and thoroughly loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Sandra Brockway of Newport; four children, Michael and wife, Linda Brockway, of Newport, Michelle Hoff of Florida, Laura Brockway of Newport, and Douglas and wife, Raquel Brockway, of Newport; three sisters, Barbara Cloutier of Corinna, Phyllis Clukey of Florida and Doris Young of Bangor; grandchildren, Kristen, Jordan, Angela, Michael, Anthony, Jenna, Brittany, Jill, Macy, Edison and Nirvana; two great-grandsons, Gavin and Bentley; nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Rascal. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald; a baby brother, Dana; and a sister, Beverly Rancourt.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Peoples United Methodist Church, 131 Main St., Newport, with the Rev. Ellen Bridge officiating. Burial will be held later at Morse’s Corner Cemetery, Corinna. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Peoples United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 182, Newport, ME 04953.
