ELLSWORTH — A 26-year-old man from Bernard faces charges of theft of a night deposit bag containing cash and checks from his employer.
According to Lt. Harold Page of the Ellsworth Police Department , Blaine Chadwick stole a night deposit bag containing $1,578 in cash and checks from his employer, VIP auto parts store in Ellsworth. Page said Chadwick was supposed to make the deposit on March 19 and failed to do so. He has been charged with Class C theft, which is punishable by up to five years in jail and a $5,000 fine.
None of the cash or checks has been recovered, Page said.
Ellsworth Officer Bart Tokas issued a summons to Chadwick on Friday. Chadwick is scheduled to appear in Hancock Superior Court on May 19.
