BELFAST — The Bird Bus, sponsored by the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition and the Waldo County YMCA, will run several spring trips for participants to view returning feathered friends. The Tuesday, April 12, trip will tour the Belfast vicinity, including the Sears Island Causeway. On Tuesday, April 26, the bus will travel to the Weskeag Marsh, and the Tuesday, May 17, outing will focus on warblers in the Belfast area. Each trip will last 3½  hours, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The cost is $12 per person per trip and payment is due at registration — no later than the Friday prior to each scheduled trip. To reserve a place on these popular trips, call the YMCA at 338-4598.

OLD TOWN — Old Town adult education will hold a state-approved hunter safety course 6-9 p.m. April 11-14 at the high school. Call 827-3906.

ORLAND — Volunteers needed to help tidy up trails and beaches of trash and winter debris during Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery annual cleanup day, 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 16. Bring gloves, clippers, loppers or handsaws, and meet at the hatchery parking lot. Friends of Craig Brook will provide refreshments. Sponsored by Friends of Craig Brook and Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust. Groups welcome. SWANVILLE — The Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition will lead a paddling expedition on the Goose River 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16. The river winds through marshlands and a pond. Choose between a 4-mile or 7-mile excursion. Meet at the Swan Lake dam in Swanville behind Swan Lake Grocery on Route 141. Bring kayak or canoe, paddle, personal flotation device, water, lunch and sunscreen.  Binoculars and camera recommended. Dress appropriately. Call 338-1147 for more information.

UNITY — Unity College to hold fourth annual sportsmen’s conference and wild game dinner Friday, April 15, at Unity College Centre for the Performing Arts, 4 Depot St., Unity.  Appetizers at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. Ticket are $15 for students, $20 regular seating and $25 for VIP tickets.  Holders of VIP tickets will have access to preferred seating, portions and one bottle of wine per table.  Tickets are available at the door or through Unity College Centre for the Performing Arts.
