BANGOR, Maine — Rockport potter Richard Robertson this weekend will demonstrate his trade and discuss how pottery-making illustrates spiritual truths from the Christian perspective.

The event, sponsored by Pilgrim Orthodox Church, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Penobscot Christian School, 1423 Ohio St.

Robertson is the owner of Rockport Pottery, 140 Vinal St., founded in 1976. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vt., in 1964. He studied at the Mendocino Art Center from 1965 to 1969 in Mendocino, Calif.

The potter traveled to Japan, where he took an apprenticeship in Imbe to study Bizenware under Fujiwara Rakusan for two years.

Robertson and his wife, Lynette, moved to Maine in 1976 and raised three sons.
