CONCORD, N.H. — Federal agents have arrested a man accused of fleeing a New Hampshire police officer — prompting a high-speed chase that ended when the cruiser crashed, leaving the officer seriously injured.
New Hampshire federal marshals say Gilbert Perez of Moody, Maine, was arrested in Staten Island, N.Y., on Thursday.
He was charged with being a fugitive from justice, disobeying a police officer and driving under suspension.
Milton police Officer Reginald Crone stopped Perez on March 27. As Crone approached Perez’s truck, Perez reportedly sped away.
Crone pursued Perez but lost control of his cruiser and struck a tree in Wakefield.
Crone was airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was treated for a broken leg and fractured ribs.
Perez will be arraigned in Staten Island before being extradited to New Hampshire.
