Lighthouse gala April 16 at Sheraton Harborside in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — The American Lighthouse Foundation’s 2011 annual Lighthouse Gala will take place at 6 p.m.  Saturday, April 16, at the Sheraton Harborside Hotel in Portsmouth. The event will include music, a silent auction and a buffet dinner. Tickets are $49 a person with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit American Lighthouse Foundation’s mission.

President of HSUS to discuss book at Portland library

PORTLAND, Maine — Wayne Pacelle, president of the Humane Society of the United States and author of “The Bond: Our Kinship With Animals, Our Call To Defend Them,” will discuss his book at 7 p.m. Monday, April 18, in the University of Southern Maine Events Room, seventh floor, Glickman Family Library in Portland.
