BANGOR — Kyle Vanidestine of Bangor hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning to plate the eventual winning run Tuesday afternoon as Husson University completed a sweep of its North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader against Castleton State with a 11-10 victory at the Winkin Complex. The Eagles blanked Castleton in the opener 9-0. In the opener, Ryan Arsenault pitched a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and one walk to earn the win for Husson. Cody McInnis hit a two-run double which highlighted a five-run third inning. Shawn Smith and Chris Maguire each hit two singles while Vanidestine added an RBI single. In the nightcap, Vanidestine led the Eagles with the grand slam and a single. Smith tripled, singled and knocked in a run while McInnis chipped in with an RBI single behind relief winner Dan Beatham. Jack Lancelin singled twice with two RBIs to pace the Spartans and Matt Eisenhuth doubled twice and knocked in two runs.
