Mount View Mustangs win tournament

THORNDIKE — The Mount View Mustangs won the third- and fourth-grade boys’ All Star Basketball Tournament. The Mustangs competed in a tournament against other teams from as far away as Lewiston this season. The Championship games took place March 25-27 at Mount View School, with all divisions competing for the title.

The Mustangs took on Pittsfield and won the game 33-30,  played China and lost 37-36, and played Pittsfield and won 31-20. The first game, on Sunday morning, March 27,

was against China, and Mount View won 35-34. Because China had been undefeated, Mount View faced the team again on Sunday afternoon. Tension was high, and the game was well-played by both sides, creating much apprehension in the stands. The Mustangs won the game with a score of 35-44.

Trophies were awarded to all members of the China team and the China coach thanked Mount View for hosting the tournament and for being such a good team to play.

The Mustangs were awarded individual trophies and the large championship trophy by head coach Dan Curtis, coach Luke Boulay and coach Mike Higgins.
