The Chamber Choir at St. John’s Catholic Church will perform Musica Sacra at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at the church, 207 York St., Bangor. Suggested donation is $10. The Lenten program will feature Byrd’s Mass for 5 Voices and works by Monteverdi and Frescobaldi, as well as Josef Rheinberger’s rarely-performed hymn Stabat Mater, a meditation on Mary’s grief as Jesus suffered on the Cross. The program will be directed and accompanied by Kevin Birch with a string quintet led by Anatole Weik. Birch, who has a doctorate in musical arts and is a faculty member at the University of Maine, has led the chamber choir since 1995 and served as director of music at St. John’s since 1992.
