Bangor police are investigating a report of a break-in at Diva’s Gentleman’s Club on Harlow Street.

The possible break-in was reported by Diana Cormier, owner of the downtown exotic dance club, who discovered someone had entered her business overnight.

“When I left last night, everything was normal. When I came in this morning, some of the ceiling tiles in the entryway were missing and all these electric wires were hanging down,” Cormier said in a telephone interview late Thursday afternoon.

Police were releasing few details Thursday night. Bangor police Sgt. Brad Johnston said the incident remained under investigation and that members of the department’s Criminal Investigation Division likely would follow up on Friday.

Cormier said that as far as she could tell, nothing other than the ceiling tiles appeared to be missing. The damage did not prevent Diva’s from opening Thursday night. (Dawn Gagnon, BDN)

A clerk at the Circle K convenience store on Main Street in Bangor called police Wednesday morning to report that a drunken man had been in the bathroom for more than an hour, Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday.

When police arrived at the store at around 9:25 a.m. they found Matthew Jones, 21, of Milford sitting out front and he was visibly intoxicated, Edwards said.

Jones was found carrying diverted clonazepam (a muscle relaxant), syringes, a small plastic bag and a spoon with a white residue, and three 9 mm bullets.

“There was no weapon, just the bullets,” Edwards said.

Jones was arrested on charges related to the diverted prescription pills and also was charged with the sale and use of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and remained there late Thursday afternoon, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
