Coast Guard crews conducting search after receiving distress call

BELFAST, Maine — U.S. Coast Guard crews are conducting a search after receiving a distress call east of Belfast on Wednesday.

A mayday call was received at about 4:40 p.m. A Coast Guard rescue boat crew from Station Rockland, an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., and Maine Marine Patrol are conducting search patterns where the distress call is believed to have come from, according to Coast Guard Sector Northern New England.

No reports of overdue vessels or missing mariners have been made.
