Bangor declares April as National Grange Month

BANGOR, Maine — A proclamation was presented to representatives of Bangor and Queen City Granges at the City Council meeting of March 28 declaring April National Grange Month.

The Grange has had a presence nationwide for 144 years, and Queen City Grange and Bangor Grange have served Bangor since 1872 and 1901. The month of activities will end with a Community Citizens Night on Monday, April 26. Residents from the area who have made a difference with volunteer work will be presented awards by Bangor Grange. The public is invited to all events, which will be at the Bangor Grange hall, 1192 Ohio St. For more information, call 973-3976.

Bangor library plans evening with Carolyn Locke

BANGOR, Maine — The Bangor Public Library will host an evening of poetry and images with Carolyn Locke at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the library. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 947-8336, ext. 111.

Concert to raise funds for pediatric oncology center

BANGOR, Maine — The Public Relations Student Society of America will host a benefit concert to raise money for families from Eastern Maine Medical Center’s pediatric oncology center at 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Husson University in Bangor.

The event, called “Music Saved Me,” includes host and comedian Adam Hatch as well as five bands: Mines of Paris, Fancy Devil, Average at Best, Legend Has It and Sam and Yuri.

Concert admission is free but the organization encourages all attendees to bring cash for donations as well as raffles. All money raised will go directly to Eastern Maine Medical Center to help the families of children with cancer. For more information, call Keri Pappalardo at 603-401-7628.
