ATKINSON – Alice J. Piche, 69, wife of the late Dewey R. Piche, died March 25, 2011, at her son’s home in Lincoln. She was born Aug. 17, 1942, in Pawtucket, R.I., the daughter of Dr. Albert J. and his wife, Nancy (Wright) Gaudet Sr.
She attended Central Falls High School, Central Falls, R.I.
After high school she opened "Alice’s Poodle Parlor" and operated the dog grooming business for a couple of years.
She married Dewey, Nov. 17, 1962. Alice was a very caring person who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed doing various volunteer jobs – basically anything to help others.
She was a gifted floral designer, a job she enjoyed for many years. She was active with the SAD 41 school board, serving as chairman at one time, and was a member of Eastern Maine Beagle Club. Alice had a passion for water-skiing on Lake Winnepausaukee, Guilford, N.H., where she and her family spent time in the summers. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family in the outdoors. She especially enjoyed the special times spent with her granddaughter, Brittany Piche.
Alice was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Dewy R. Piche, in 2005; and a son, Derrick Piche, in 1989. A dedicated mother and grandmother, Alice is survived by her son, Dale and his wife, Nicole, of Lincoln; two brothers, Al J. Gaudet and his wife, Mary, of Pensacola, Fla., and their children, Mark, Albert, Chris, Keith and Beth, and Dr. Dwight Gaudet of Lafayette, Calif.; and a very special granddaughter, Brittany Piche of Orono. In recent years she expanded her love to include a special friend, John O’Conner of Bradley, who she enjoyed spending time with.
Friends are invited to call 3-5 p.m. Sunday, March 27, at Lary Funeral Home, Milo. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, at Park Street United Methodist Church, Milo, with the Rev. Michele St. Cyr officiating. Burial will be later in the spring in the family lot at Greenwood Cemetery, Atkinson. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at
