Caribou library establishes nonresident fee

By Barbara Scott, Aroostook Republican and News

CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Public Library board of trustees recently voted to eliminate the per capita stipend that was being charged to Stockholm, New Sweden, Woodland, Connor and Westmanland.

According to  Diane Dubois, library director, “Residents from these communities who choose to use the Caribou library will be charged an annual nonresident fee of $30 per individual, or $40 per family.”

This change went into effect Tuesday, March 15.

The fee equates to what Caribou residents pay for library services on an annual basis, Dubois said.
