BANGOR, Maine — The Grammy-winning country music group Lady Antebellum will be coming to Bangor Waterfront to perform on Monday, Sept. 5, according to concert promoter Alex Gray.
The Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music vocal group of the year has just two albums to its credit, but its first one went platinum and the hit single from its second album (“Need You Now”) already has five Grammys to its credit.
Because of numerous requests and plenty of vocal support from Lady Antebellum fans around the state, Gray said he made “Lady A” a primary target on his list of 2011 concert candidates.
The Tennessee-bred trio — featuring Hillary Scott (lead and background vocals), Charles Kelley (lead vocals, lead guitar), and Dave Haywood (background vocals, guitar, piano mandolin) — will feature opening act Sunny Sweeney.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 1, and are priced as follows: $61.75 (general admission, upfront “pit” area), $51.75 (section one) and $37.75 (section two). They are available to purchase at Mark’s Music in Brewer as well as online at www.waterfrontconcerts.com.
The trio has scored big hits with “Need You Now,” “Love Don’t Live Here,” “Lookin’ For a Good Time” and “I Run to You.”
Lady Antebellum has seven Grammys (album of the year, best country album, record of the year, song of the year and best country song in 2011, and single of the year and vocal group of year in 2009), four American Country Awards, three ACT awards and four Academy of Country Music awards to its credit already. Not bad for a group that’s only been around for five years.
On the 2011 Bangor Waterfront concert schedule, Lady Antebellum joins the Bumstock/Avalanche Tour featuring Theory of a Deadman, Skillet, Stone Sour, Halestorm and Art of Dying on April 30, Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top on May 19, and Ray Lamontagne and the Pariah Dogs with Brandi Carlile and The Secret Sisters on May 26.
