Prom dresses needed for giveaway at Brewer church


BREWER, Maine — The branch  and Giggey Girl Gowns’ Kassidy Giggey, through the Community of Christ Church in Brewer, will make prom dresses and formal attire available to girls who can’t afford them. The church will collect dresses 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays and 1-3 p.m. Saturdays, through March 29, at the church, 128 Pierce Road in Brewer. Anyone in need of a dress can  come check out the selection 1-5 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the church. For more information, call 902-2421.

Second health fair scheduled at Brewer High School

BREWER, Maine — Brewer High School’s  Student Health Advisory Board will hold the second annual health fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday,  March 30 in the high school gym. The health fair provides a wide variety of information for students, and the public is welcome. Topics include substance abuse, fitness, healthful foods, domestic violence and others. Residents invited to 12th birthday of Bangor senior center

BANGOR, Maine — Bangor area residents are invited to celebrate the 12th birthday of  opportunities at the Hammond Street Senior Center from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 30 at 2 Hammond St. in downtown Bangor. The 12th birthday party includes a “Best Looking Cake” contest, cake auction and annual birthday bake sale. Lecture on compassion fatigue at Husson theater

BANGOR, Maine — Husson College of  Health and Education will present “Compassion Fatigue: Healing the Heart-Renewing the Soul,” a lecture st 5:15 p.m. Monday, March 28, at Gracie Theatre at Husson. Dr. Donna McCarten Whaite will present the lecture aimed at a new perspective on stress in clinical practice. The event is free and open to the public.
