SEDGWICK, Maine — A 27-year-old Sedgwick man died Tuesday morning in a crash on a snow-covered Route 15.
Daniel Parker died at the scene of the accident.
The accident occurred at about 6:30 a.m., according to Lt. Christopher Coleman of the Maine State Police. The initial call came into the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department from Onstar, an onboard communication and navigation system, reporting a two-vehicle crash on Route 15 in Sedgwick., Lt. Coleman said in a press release.
Parker was driving a 2006 blue four-door Honda Civic south on Route 15 when he appeared to have lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered road, according to Coleman. Parker’s car crossed the center line and crashed into a 2009 black GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by Rosemarie Kane, 49, of Brooksville. Parker’s Honda then spun around and came to rest on the shoulder of the northbound lane.
Kane was taken by Peninsula Ambulance to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. Parker was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but Coleman said it was clear that road conditions were a factor.
In addition to state troopers, deputies from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department went to the scene along with crews from the Sedgwick and Brooksville fire departments.
