Women’s leadership conference Thursday at NMCC

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The All for Women: Aroostook Leadership & Learning For Women conference will be held from 12:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the Edmunds Conference Center, Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle, including door prizes, finger food, chocolate fountain and wonderful women.  Registration price is $20 or 2/$35. Labor Lobby Day scheduled for State House on Tuesday

AUGUSTA, Maine — Working families will participate in the Maine AFL-CIO’s Labor Lobby Day at the State House from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, on the third floor of the State House. The discussion will deal with anti-worker legislation such as the proposed Right to Work bills (LD 788 & LD 309), which could lower living standards for working families and undermine workers organizations, as well as the governor’s proposed budget.

A press conference will be held at 1:05 p.m. in the Welcome Center where firefighters, nurses, mill workers and shipbuilders will discuss their concerns about anti-worker legislation.

Anti-bullying activities in Topsham March 26

BRUNSWICK, Maine — Jim Mayer, “Uncle Jim,”  of Jimmy Buffet’s Coral Reefer Band, returns to Maine to help spread his anti-bullying message through song and fun activities.
