Posted March 18, 2011, at 5:49 p.m.

The Mid-Coast Audubon Society invites interested and hardy souls for a few hours of trail maintenance at the Nelson Preserve in Friendship from 9:30 -11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 26. We will trim and mark several established sections of trail in the wooded preserve in preparation for the April 10 event “Breakfast with the Birds.”

Bring rubber boots, and a pruning tool of choice.

Volunteers will receive a free ticket to “Greenapalooza” being held at Plants Unlimited in Rockport on April 16. Greenapalooza is a community celebration of green accomplishments, and volunteers will gather to celebrate with a free cookout.

For information about the Nelson Preserve workday contact Sue Schubel at 380-1370 or sschubel@tidewater.net.  Get in touch ahead of time and she will include you in the doughnut count. The Nelson Preserve is on Route 97 about 1 mile from Friendship Village.  Meet in the small parking lot; car-pooling is encouraged.
