PORTLAND, Maine — A morning blaze that killed a 43-year-old Portland man is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The fire at 65 Grant St. was reported at 10 a.m. and was put out quickly. The damage was mostly contained to the interior of the apartment, police say.

The man, whose identity has not been confirmed, was pronounced dead at Maine Medical Center. Investigators say it appears the man’s clothing caught on fire, according to a press release from the Department of Public Safety.
