FREEPORT, Maine — The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife says a Freeport man is in critical condition after an ATV crash in which he was not wearing a helmet.

Officials say 48-year-old Gregory Thompson was riding the ATV in his driveway after 6 p.m. Monday when his wife reported seeing him flying through the air and the ATV rolling over in the driveway. He landed face down.

Thompson was taken by helicopter to the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

The incident remains under investigation.
