Finalists announced for Travis Roy Award

Forward Sam Canales of Thornton Academy in Saco, goalie Cam Poussard of Lewiston, forward Alex Parker of St. Dominic in Auburn and defenseman Nick Gagne of Biddeford have been named finalists for the Travis Roy Award, which is given to the state’s top senior Class A high school hockey player.

Canales helped lead Thornton to the Class A state title while scoring seven goals and notching 13 assists as a defensive forward while Poussard had .960 save percentage and 14-0-2 record in leading Lewiston to the EM title.

Parker paced the Saints with 20 goals and 19 assists while Gagne led a Biddeford defense that finished second in goals allowed per game with 1.48.

The Roy award is voted on by the Maine Class A Hockey Coaches Association and will be announced at the Class A state hockey banquet in two weeks.
