ELLSWORTH, Maine — A section of Happytown Road remains closed Monday morning as city crews work to make the road passable.

According to Ellsworth Police Chief John DeLeo, a section of the road just north of Branchview Drive became so wet and muddy over the weekend that it was impassable. Crews were working on the road Monday morning, but the section of road was expected to remain closed for much of the day and perhaps longer.

The problem is near 878 Happytown Road, according to DeLeo. Motorists can reach areas south of the problem via the Bucksport Road (Route 1) end of Happytown Road. To reach areas north of the problem area, they can come in through Orland or Dedham via Winkumpaugh Road.
