Florida woman gets 30 years for killing Dedham, Maine, man

The Associated Press

TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa Bay-area woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for fatally shooting a Maine man at her home in 2009.

A Hillsborough County judge sentenced 45-year-old Tamra Leasure on Monday. She was found guilty last month of second-degree murder.

Authorities say Leasure shot 57-year-old Arthur Tilley, of Dedham, Maine, three times in March 2009. She claimed she was trying to defend herself from her intoxicated friend. She testified that he threatened to kill her, shoved her and came at her.

Law enforcement officials testified that Leasure lied at first about shooting Tilley and kept changing her story.
